Horological Meandering

Hi, After many months of looking I eventuall bought a Universal Geneve Mens Okeanos Chronograph Triple Date Moon Phase from a watch dealer in Melbourne Australia. Whilst the watch is new and sold with the warranty, the instruction booklet was missing. Is ...

Graham, Thanks for the pointers they were a great help. I have managed to find a number of different brands who use the 7751 mvt and have got all the info I needed bar one piece which is how to manually wind the watch. The instructions I have found differ... 

hi Ian, if it has a screwdown crown you'll need to unwind it until its unscrewed and then hand wind it normally, if its not screwdown it should wind ok, perhaps a little stiff from not being used. to be honest handwinding is not needed, when you put it on...

Hello Ian, Your watch uses the Valjoux/ETA 7751 movement. Just follow Graham's above advice. After setting the watch to around noon time, use the crown at the second position to set the date and moonphase. Turning the crown fwd will set one, and backwards...

My Omega is also very hard to turn clockwise. I have to pinch the crown between two fingernails to turn it. It's just this one watch of mine that's so tight. My watch guy lubed it, and that helped a lot, but still tighter than my other watches. If you wat...

...if you're worried about the stiffness in the clockwise direction is to screw the in the crown anti-clockwise direction and pull the crown out fully. Can you see any threads? Stare really close in between the case and the crown. If you see screwthreads,... 

BDLJ and others, Thanks for all your suggestions, I have let the watch wind down then confirmed using BDLJ's advice re threads that it is not a screw down crown. Then gripped the Crown with finger nails rather than the pads of my fingers and what do you k... 

Ian, How is the watch's quality? I am interested on getting one of these, but I was wondering how does it compared with other brands such as Omega, or Tag Heuer? Thanks, Christian

Christian, Very impressed with the quality, the movement keeps great time out of the box, the case, face etc all good. Early days (I have had the watch about 6 weeks) but very happy. The Universal is my second Swiss made watch, the first was a Maurice Lac...
