Independents

Hmm. I don?t believe these are exactly forgotten...

At least there?s a couple of others sporting the same ebauches or close cousins, such as the Panerai PAM080 "Independent".
Since the vintage "seconde morte" Doxa?s usually go for a couple of hundreds, we?re probably not talking a MR or tourbillon-grade movement here. Or even something unique or very special, such as a small Piguet Sonnerie or likes.

So yes, casing up a vintage one is nice.
Choosing the dial, hands and case by external suppliers is nice as well.
Zeno does so, with good success and a lot of vintage AS bases (and a different price range). Or Aristo (Ronda microrotors), Paul Picot (Venus Rattrapante), etc etc....
But almost any of these does some modification on the vintage ebauche, from engraving the proper brand name over refinish/decoration up to complete rework (in case of Paul Picot, where the Venus is added a Perpetual Calendar).

So i?d be curious where to find the "creative" aspect in these ones.
After all, Richard Habring is an AHCI member and while it?s certainly a handsome watch, particularly the movement with basically no decoration and a brand name is a somewhat surprising view.

Greetings,

Peter
