I am very much encouraged. I do think it is admirable to see an independent watchmaker creating pieces in which the cases are not 15 mm larger than the movements. And, though I could be wrong, I understand that the independent dual-time mechanism is Herr Brand's own development of the base movement. More famous names than him get away with less horological innovation than this. Plus, you can get it with chronometer certification - which may not be worth so terribly much, but is some indication that it was at one time reasonably accurate.
Although the motoring analogy may not be quite right, perhaps Rainer Brand is the Alpine Renault to Glash?tte's AMG or M3.
The Dubey & Schaldebrand Aerodyn Duo is another dual time watch with independent minute setting. D & S have also a cushion-cased model which does the same. Both are quite a lot cheaper than the RB, but neither attracts me. JLC's offerings are just too confusing: I can't have them all, but I don't want to reject any of them. The very top end ain't within my reach, UN, Oris, Rolex, IWC, current Zenith don't ring my bells ...
So it would seem that my mind is made up. Now I must negotiate the more difficult part: the funds and the spouse. I never bought a new watch before, but she is calling to me, across the globe, saying "Take me, take me home with you ..."
Cheers
