A hands on perspective
I will admit I biased. I love the “SL” or what I call the 1832 IWC Jumbo. I own three early originals and wear each.
But do find it a challenge to wear later models. When they made it smaller and thinner, I lost the Genta vibe.
The 1832 on the wrist Makes me feel like I am in 1978 again. The dial, thin hands and integrated bracelet make it a true joy to wear.
I do think IWC realizes it’s treasure. I just sent in two original jumbos for a spa stay and both were provided loving, respectful and perfect attention. A brand that does not value its past will fail to provide that after market service!!
Being in love with the past, and interested in today, I really look forward to what’s next for this iconic and recognized child of GG!!!

Maybe the wrong name. Maybe the watch attracts almost nobody. It is absolutely nothing for me. Albeit i do not want a PP Nautilus either. Overseas, Royal Oak. That are tru power bulls, i want that on my wrist!
In the current thirst for this genre, if IWC hit the nail down on the head

Great article and very informative - Thank you ! The Jumbo SL has intrigued me for some years, especially since it was the only tool watch out of the three all steel Genta designs at the time.
I have nearly pulled the trigger on many occasions, but since I have never seen one in the flesh to try it on the thickness has always put me off...
I agree, but if it comes in 8-9mm it could be a game changer

Ingenieur Future Path
I hope IWC finds one along the lines of the 3228. The Ingenieur has appeared and disappeared enough over time that may just be it's DNA. What next will be revealed... I sold my 3227 & 3239 last year . It's tough for me to see either of those becoming high...

And it is awfully so quiet around IWC now....will we ever see the new Ingenieur. Also no leaks whatsoever from Big boys like PP, VC, rolex, omega, JLC, Cartier, etc...
