I have a certain affinity for chronos with only 2 subdials too, so the layout is just right. I have been tempted by the other recent vintage efforts, and this one likely will find me sooner or later. I also find myself drawn to the 1931 Grande Reverso... ...
I can't wait to see the triple calendar Reverso, skeleton with blue enamel Reverso, the Deep Sea chrono, and Duometre tourbillon in the metal. Gosh, lots to see! Cheers, Daos
Definitely needs to be tried out on the wrist before passing judgement. Same with the Deep Sea chrono (having said that, it will obviously sell). The triple date Reverso is a sure winner aesthetically although the 976-sized case isn't friendly to my wrist...
February 2012... Yes, you read it correctly ... February 2012! April of thi year will see some other models... Yes, JLC understood that it was not good to let their fans waiting too long between the unveiling and the delivery. Best, Nicolas
This: Reminds me of that: I wish this new reverso Calendar would have been issued in the more aptly-sized GT case instead of the superlarge size (but I have sort of given hopes of finding any type of complication in the more wearable GT case now)...
page 266-267. This was a perpetual calendar with retrograde date prototype that was in a Classique-size, of which the one offered this year is the most like. Frankly, I prefer a solid back for personalization, unless the movement is superbly decorated - o...
... you remember this conversation from 2.5 years ago: jlc.watchprosite.com But yes, it was the Cal 976 I was thinking of. Some movements are not meant to be seen. ;-$ Andrew
Still officially not sure that the Reverso PC existed, in the late thirties... To be discussed, I will of course post something in the weeks to come. Best, Nicolas.
nee "Master Grande Taille"... my hope is that the proportions of the original 1992-2003 version would come through on the new one. I didn't like the wider bezel of the 40mm, and was hoping for a more slanted bezel, which I find more elegant. -Dean
so my friend, you're looking like a devil! yes, great news, huge novelties. but, what's about the so nice stainless steel QP seen last year? no news about this complication. some of us are still waiting for a new version of the master QP...
The Master RdM is a nice size bump, brings that model back from the brink! I really like the skeletonized reverso, reminds me of the Reverso Art Deco, though I'd always prefer skeletonizing without engraving (see the recent Piaget), but JLC will never do ...
If you get the true purpose of the Shpero, then you will get how it is a true Duometre... Stay tuned, I will post the in depht review in the following days. Best, Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2012-01-18 13:41:40
Are clearly my favorites this year! Thank you, my friend for the great report! Looking forward to hear more details and to see the watches in the metal! Any info on this one..?! Best Blomman...
It's listed on the JLC site with all SIHH 2012 models, all of which are already shown in this thread except for this model. http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/GB/en/luxury-watches/collection/new-2012.html GRANDE REVERSO 1931 Reference: 2783520 White Gold 18 ...
I'm in the same boat as XGT size cases are unfortunately unwearable for me. That WG Reverso looks stunning can't wait for Nico's pics. Still, for those with slimmer wrists, JLC's showing is really great and deserve a pat on the back for not super sizing t...
I agree with the masses..JLC is following its own and braving a very nice path with their pieces.. looking forward to more on the Duometre à Spherotourbillon and that atmos is just divine... Thank you for the summary and looking forward to more...
Nicolas, thanks for bringing many beautiful watches to us. To me, the master control is so balance and clean. It is timeless. I like the stainless steel version because the blue second hand blends well with the dial colour. The deep sea chronograph is so ...
And JLC still has to improve their strap, definitely. But at least there are already some nice improvements on the cases, sizes, volumes, well, in a word, watches. Even if a strap is a true part of the watch. Best, Nicolas.
But think about it: What is better? A nice watch and a so so strap, or a nice strap on a so so watch? What? A nice strap on a great watch? I hear you. Best, Nicolas
...the same size of the 'regular' RDM. I think they work better on the 37 mm version. The Reverso Calendar is my favorite. This message has been edited by marcelo on 2012-01-18 06:38:57
All IMHO of course For me, the Jaeger LeCoultre Réserve de Marche stands as one of the most beautifully balanced watch designs in history. It starts with the chamaeleonic, ‘soleil’ effect finish of the dial. This always creates involuntary glances from ca...
And I totally suscribe to your words. By thge way, I couldn't choose nor write them better. I also agree on the fact that this is a watch to see in the flesh to fully appreciate it. A watch to feel, rather than simply seeing it on pics. My opinion on the ...
The "JL" logo now appears while the previous one just had Jaeger LeCoultre under the 12. That said, I heard from the Malaysian boutique that the thickness of the new case is exactly the same as the old one. Would anyone confirm this? For some reason, the ...
At least it’s the info I got from many web different sources. If the numbers are right, the diameter of the RDM MUT - compared with the former RDM - had increased 5.4%, while the thickness 5.9%. These numbers would also make the thickness/diameter ratio o...
Same thickness? Isn't it supposed to be UT? I made a Google search and found out the "regular" RDM is 9.3 mm thick, while the "UT" version would be 9.85 (I got the same info from two different sources).
googled it, and found this page: http://ninanet.net/ap/ludwig/jlcmrdm.html the author says 10.1mm height on the case, which is probably about right. but the new naming of nearly all new models with UT is, well......
The two numeric 9 and 12 are now gone, too. It is no doubt bigger and just as classier as other Master Control but I still like the previous version a bit more.
to a brand i used to admire. they've done everything so well this year , in my opinion. better presence doesn't mean "big", especially for a small wristed , like myself. i see balance and well-proportions in the updates for the classic watches. the watche...
Seems that JLC people Werent busy watching THE RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES thus they were more focused on their creation ... lots of nice pieces in there... ill revisit some other time to check them in depth but right now im under the magic of Reverso ...
And I can rely that the real experience is even nicer. I am sure you will have a lot of pleasure seeing them in the flesh! Best, and thanks for giving us your opinion. Best, Nicolas.
and the Duometre. I like the Duometre chronograph as well from the past few years. These are watches I could possibly afford, they are both unique in their own way (Reverso case, various movements for the Duometres), and they just look great. Thanks for t...
+ my real work and a family who didn't see me for 3 days. I took the picture, you will see it as sonn as I post the topic on the Triple Calendar Reverso. Best, Nicolas
I was thinking more that JLC have not posted a pic of it in any of their press releases....but if you do have a pic of it I just look forward to seeing it.
Hi Thanks for the overview - definitely some things to think about! RDM - will need to think about it and see it in the flesh as the current such an icon. Though it does strick me that the case does look very close to the the ultra thin moon. Would laso b...
I am to understand that new Duometre is only available in a boutique? Is there a boutique in Massachusetts, it's very difficult to find one on the JLC site. Does anyone know the price? Thanks, Jeff
I had dinner with Yves Meylan on the Wednesday evening and I know he texted you to see if you would be around to meet up on the Thursday but sadly you had returned to Paris. It would have been great to see you again after so long. Had a great tour of the ...
I had Yves Meylan on the phone, yesterday, but he didn't tell me that YOU were the mysterious gentleman who wanted to see me there! What a pity! I do wish that we'll have another opportunity to meet, my good friend. Nice choice, by the way! All the best, ...
Nicolas, I was in the private viewing room trying on the Sphero Tourbillon when Yves called you. I thought he had mentioned me by name but I guess not. I hope we can meet again soon too. It would be great to catch up. Perhaps I could come over to Paris on...
You were in good hands! We have a strong nest of Londonian friends, Simon. An informal gathering between Paris and London is something easily envisageable. I am so happy to see you back here! Best, Nicolas
I shall tell you of my past couple of years off the radar when we next meet. Yves did provide some laughter for us at the dinner when he reminded me of the occasion when you strapped your watch to the front of your Audi to take pictures and then you drove...
We'll find the moment and the place, Simon, no worries. I saw Zhara at the SIHH, she may also help us to organize that, I think. But definitely, I count on you and you in for the next gathering, even if informal! Best, my friend. Nicolas. This message has...
I sat next to Zhara at dinner on Wednesday and at lunch on Thursday. I was sad to hear that Caroline and Marie were no longer with JLC but Zhara was excellent company and I am sure she could help to organise another memorable GTG. To be continued....... K...
Your passion is always appreciated. I must admit this isn't my favourite year from JLC, but maybe that's because the most exciting piece is the Duometre Spherotourbillon and I trust it is a very elite piece and unfortunately not for me. Some nice tangible...
But keep in mind that next year will be the 180th anniversary of the brand, and that last year was quite rich. Some of their watches from the 2012 let a strong impression. Just to help us to wait till next year. As for the Chronometer, I totally agree wit...
... rereading these watches of this year, two models caught my attention most, i.e. Reverso Calendar and Duometre à Spherotourbillon, for others, perhaps they were somehow introduced by press release before SIHH, which makes me less excited! in any case, ...
The ATMOS Klimt is to die for. 10 pieces only...and it will not be affordable. But what a beauty... The Reverso Calendar looks great - looking forward to hold it in my hand The RDM is a wonderful piece - the indexes are just classic and give it a bit of a...
