My second JLC.....and Master Calendar Impressions

I was lucky enough to walk into my AD today to find they'd just received a brand new Master Compressor Chronograph, in stainless steel, on a brown alligator strap (not caramel calf, which I dislike) with white stitching. SS deployant clasp.

To cut a short story even shorter - I bought it immediately, give or take 15 minutes of polite haggling.

This watch is stunning in person! In general, I am not a fan of the Compressor line, the Automatic, Dualmatic etc, do nothing for me, in fact you could almost say I dislike them. But this watch...it just works. I don't know why.......it incorporates the same styling ideas and visual cues as the other Compressors......it just seems to tie together in a way the others don't.

I also think it's very good value, relatively speaking, for a manufacture integrated chrono. Without naming names, whilst in the store I also looked at a number of similarly-priced, and indeed more expensive, chronos, which didn't have the same apparent quality, and in most cases contained either modified ETA/Valjoux (crazy at this price point, if you ask me), or DD modular, movements.

I will post pictures in the next few days - let me know if you'd like anything specific.

Whilst in the store I had the opportunity to look at the Master Calendar - I have to say I was disappointed. The (very attractive) photos of this watch on the net fail to convey one very important fact - just how thick and bulky this watch really is.

Compared to my Master Control, it wore on the wrist like a bulky diver, a problem exacerbated by the lugs, which for whatever reason do not flow with the contours of the wrist. In addition, the face of the watch appeared to be lopsided, due to the positioning of the power reserve indicator.
