The Manufacture Comes to You ? Institutional Exhibition by Jaeger-LeCoultre
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reveals Truth & Meaning Behind Fine Watch Manufacturing
KUALA LUMPUR, Swiss fine watch manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre will be holding the World Premiere of its institutional world tour exhibition aptly named, "The Manufacture Comes to You". Set in the heart of Kuala Lumpur?s lifestyle haven; Suria KLCC, the exhibition is the world?s first and will be one of the largest exhibition held in the country by an independent watch "manufacture".
The exhibition endeavours to educate the general public and it?s customers who are interested in watches. There will be visual and interactive exhibits on watch creation. With the brands inception since 1833, collectors and enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing watchmaking history in all its glory with some of the oldest timepieces, movements, high complications on display. The display of technical mastery unsurpassed in the horological world will amount to more than RM20 million.
When asked to comment on the exhibition, Maxime Labey, Managing Director of South East Asia & Australia, said that the Manufacture is very proud to host this event as this is one of the largest and the most meaningful exhibition ever held by the brand.
In the watch industry where most brands have their parts outsourced, Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the very few brands in Switzerland who can claim to be a Manufacture. We produce almost all the parts ourselves at the Manufacture and therefore we can guarantee the reliability and credibility of the brand and it?s movements.
Home to the finest traditions of hand craftsmanship, the Vallee de Joux houses the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre and is one of the few remaining watch manufacturers able to produce all the elements of a timepiece within its own workshops. There are less than 3% of the total watch brands manufactured in Switzerland which can stake such a claim.
"We at Jaeger-LeCoultre noticed that there?s a growing interest for fine watches in Malaysia. As an almost fully integrated Manufacture, we feel that it?s our responsibility to share our knowledge and passion via the exhibition so that consumers will really know what fine watches, movements, complications and mostly what watch Manufactures really are" Maxime Labey added.
The "Manufacture Comes To You" exhibition will be held from the 28th Sep till the 3rd Oct. Marketing partners such as Sincere Fine Watches and Mercedes-Benz will also be participating to exhibit their high profile innovations and answer any questions pertaining to their services. Concurrently with the exhibition cocktails for invited guests will also be held during the evenings.
Items of Attraction
The People
Combining more than 40 different professions and 20 cutting-edge technologies, Jaeger-LeCoultre brings together under one roof those who have adopted the credo:
"Far more important than any man-made instruments, eye, hand and heart remain our most precious tools."
A group of craftsmen specially selected from the 900 employees in the Manufacture consisting of an enameller, gem-setter, watchmaker and engraver will also be flown in to demonstrate the great detail and dexterity in fine watch making. Visitors can now understand more about fine watches and how a fully integrated Manufacture can contribute remarkably to the world of horology.
Master Class ? A Comprehensive Watch Workshop
Alongside with the display of exceptional timepieces, the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre has also devised a new programme called the "Master Class" which is a watch-making class conceptualised by the Manufacture for watch collectors and enthusiasts to learn all about watch-making. A private lesson for 6 a time, customers will learn to assemble and disassemble a watch culminating in graduation with certification from the Manufacture. Master Classes are by invitation only upon confirmation of appointments.
Exceptional Creations by Jaeger-LeCoultre
Carried by its heritage into the future, renowned Jaeger-LeCoultre has continually distinguished itself in the refined world of watchmaking, stamping its authority on each new era with exceptional inventions and continuous progression in offering only the best in the horological world.
Since 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed and made some 1.000 movements, and now works with the chosen 42 offering an exceptionally broad range. The repertoire runs from Calibre 101, the world?s smallest mechanical movement, to the most ingenious complications: tourbillons, perpetual calendars, minute repeater mechanisms, moon-phase and power-reserve displays, chronographs, alarms and dual-time watches will also be showcased at the exhibition.
The brand Jaeger-LeCoultre is no longer foreign to collectors, especially with it?s recent revelation of the Gyrotourbillon I which is currently one of the world?s most complicated timepiece ever created. The Gyrotourbillon I will be one of the major highlights for this exhibition.
Invented in 1928, the graceful Atmos clock is a piece of eternity which fulfils the dreams of devotees. It challenges the limits of timekeeping. Based on a unique concept this timepiece lives on air, drawing its energy from the tiniest variations in temperature. In perfect tune with nature, its slow, silent oscillations make it a symbol of the celestial mechanisms governing our universe, which we hold in trust for the generations to come.
A Celebration of Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow
The Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre was founded by Antoine LeCoultre in 1833 and the19th century is truly memorable as it was the century where some of the greatest luxury goods such as fine watch-making really started. Consumers will have the chance to witness some of the creations since the early 19th century and how the brand has evolved over the past centuries e.g. creation of the Millionometer and crown winding system.
To complement the exceptional showcase by Jaeger-LeCoultre, Mercedes-Benz, as the official partner of "The Manufacture Comes To You" exhibition will also be showcasing how their rich heritage have influenced the art of living both technically and aesthetically.
From the world's first motor vehicle (a three-wheeler 1886 Benz Patent Motor Car No.1 - Heritage car) to the latest roadster, (the SL55 AMG), which can stir the emotions like no other vehicle on the road; this exhibition will emphasise the depth and heart of innovation that only the 2 passionate manufacturers can realise.
When asked to comment on the partnership, Maxime Labey said that he envisions the partnership as a marriage synergy resulting from two of the finest brands.
"We believe that the exhibition will successfully communicate how perfection is achieved and never compromised, where both our brands are of concern. The vehicles from Mercedes-Benz have been trend-setting at every stage of the automobile's eventful history - creating the Mercedes legend by means of extraordinary engineering and extraordinary design.
This is exactly the same for Jaeger-LeCoultre as I cannot help but appreciate the blend of creativity, mechanical precision and decorative finesse of the lovingly sculpted watch that only Jaeger-LeCoultre?s craftsmen are able to give birth to" he added.
