IWC Schaffhausen Opens New Boutique in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 1 September 2013 - Following its recent series of boutique openings around the world, notably in Rome, Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen has selected Abu Dhabi as the destination for its newest boutique. Situated in Abu Dhabi's leading luxurious shopping arena, the boutique in The Galleria, which is located in the heart of Al Maryah Island, welcomes visitors to explore the world of haute horlogerie with IWC's iconic timepieces.

Al Maryah Island is a key East-meets-West destination within the capital of the United Arab Emirates and home to leading five-star hotels as well as commercial and residential towers. “This opening is very special for us: it not only reflects our unique identity and provides an exceptional customer experience, but also marks our commitment to the region. The IWC boutique’s impressive façade portraying the worlds of engineering and navigation invites guests on a journey to discover the six legendary watch families. The voyage goes on upon entering the boutique: customers can discover the fascination of aviation that accompanies the Pilot’s Watches, then delve into the world of Aquatimer, travel to Portofino and finally experience the world of ingenuity in the Da Vinci universe. Each family has a dedicated space decorated with hand-picked accessories, books and pictures inspired by their respective universes. Dark woodwork, sumptuous rugs and stunning chrome materials contrast with sober shades of black, white and grey to define and enhance the warm surroundings. Blending an inviting ambiance with a high quality of service, the new boutique is the ideal place for watch connoisseurs to appreciate a top selection of boutique exclusive pieces.

Amidst the iconic and boutique-exclusive timepieces on display, the new boutique particularly showcases IWC’s Portuguese Grande Complication (Ref. 3774). Featuring a host of the greatest achievements in watchmaking, the striking timepiece includes a perpetual calendar that has been mechanically programmed until 2499, a perpetual moon phase display and a chronograph. Paying homage to the elitism of the crew on Vasco Da Gama’s flagship that inspired it all, the Portuguese Grande Complication is the epitome of watchmaking’s most intricate and outstanding accomplishments.
