Two new Special Editions for the Officine Panerai Boutique in New York

Officine Panerai pays tribute to New York with two new Special Edition watches, sold exclusively in the Panerai boutique in 545 Madison Avenue, Manhattan. Both the watches are personalised with the same engraving on the case back, showing a close-up of the face and the torch of the Statue of Liberty, symbol of the Big Apple.

The first Special Edition dedicated to New York (PAM00407), of which only 20 units have been made, is a Radiomir 8 Days – 45 mm , with the elegant cushion case in polished steel. All the elements on the black sandwich dial, as well as the hands, are in ecru Super-LumiNova®: the figures, the linear indication of the 8-day power reserve, the small seconds dial at 9 o'clock, the calendar and the inscription "Radiomir Panerai". The strap is of vintage leather and the movement is the hand-wound calibre P.2002/3, created entirely within the Officine Panerai manufacture at Neuchâtel.

The second Special Edition (PAM00417), of which 150 units have been made, is a Luminor Marina – 44 mm with a case in polished steel and the bridge protecting the crown in brushed steel. The watch has a classic Panerai black dial, with its elegantly simple alternation of hour makers and figures coated with a special ecru Super-LumiNova®; the decoration consists simply of the words "Luminor Marina" and "Panerai" with a picture of a slow-speed torpedo, the vessel on which the frogmen of the Royal Italian Navy carried out their historic missions in the 1940s wearing the first Panerai watches on their wrists. The hour and minute hands, like the small seconds hand at 9 o'clock, are coated with the same luminous substance, thus combining maximum visibility with a vintage look, which is also pointed up by the strap of antiqued leather. The mechanical movement is the hand-wound calibre OP II.

The two watches are part of a series of Special Editions created by Officine Panerai for the clients of some of the Panerai boutiques throughout the world. The series includes watches dedicated to the boutiques in Florence, Geneva, Madrid, Paris, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo.

Dial:             Black, with luminous Arabic numerals. Date at 3 o'clock, seconds at 9 o'clock.

Crystal :        Sapphire, made from corundum, 1,9 mm thick. Anti-reflective coating.

Water- resistance: 10 bar (~100 metres).

PAM417 LUMINOR MARINA - 44 MM

Movement:   Hand-wound mechanical, exclusive Panerai OP II calibre, 16½ lignes, 17 jewels. Monometallic Glucydur® balance, 21,600 alternations/hour. Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve 56 hours. Chronometer Certificate (C.O.S.C.).

Functions:    Hours, minutes, small seconds.

Case:            Diameter 44 mm, AISI 316L polished steel.

Bezel:           Polished steel.

Back:            Screw, steel. Personalised with an engraved image of New York.

Device protecting the crown: (protected as a Trademark) Brushed steel.

Dial:             Black with luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers. Seconds at 9 o' clock.

Crystal :         Sapphire, formed of corundum, 3.5 mm thick. Anti-reflective coating.
