I've read quite a lot, last couple of days....
and as usual, my mantra stays the same, from a customer's point of view, they can do whatever they feel they have to do to:
1) have a healthy balance sheet
2) further the Panerai brand and keep it going.
From a Panerai liker's (I never could bring myself to love inanimate objects) point of view, I feel that the...variations on the theme...are beginning to pile up and leave the 3646 somewhere out there all by it's lonsome self. That I don't find very attractive. BTW, I find the 21 vs 232 comparison a bit far fetched. The 21 is a platinum, brown dialled and Vintage Rolexed timepiece whilst the 232 is a S/S thing with an ETA inside. How could the 232 even begin to...threaten...the status and value of the 21??

I think you're absolutely correct. What we're seeing is perhaps an over-responsiveness to the core collectors, with perhaps over-repetitive pieces for those whom obsess over what is "historically correct", with an attempt to find favor among the broader, ...

" It used to be 60yrs, between the real vintage & remake (or should I say hommage?) (3646 vs. PAM21, 6152/1 vs. PAM127) then it shrunk to ~10yrs? (5201/201A vs. PAM0000, PAM21 vs PAM232) then it went further below 10yrs (26A,B vs. 26K, 28A/B/C vs 28L,...
