Omega

and found every one of them to be excellent. i know nothing about the intricacies of movements. if they work i'm happy, if they stop i'm not. i've been more than happy with all of the movements especially the speedie 125 1041 calibre.'the first COSC auto chrono in the world'. i bought it full of water and rust. £300 later Omega sent me a perfectly working watch which has started on first shake ever since.

i've never owned a rolex for several reasons, but had several V72's and Breitling manual and auto's. i've been happy with them all.

In all fairness, Tom saw something posted on another forum which didn't sound right and he asked us our thoughts. He didn't make the initial comments, only transported them here and asked for clarification.

but shouldnt we be praising the watches we own instead of slagging off the watches we dont own?

I think that's a fine idea.

the effect you could have on someone who can afford a vintage omega but not a rolex can be devestating and may put them off collecting all together.

I doubt that will happen. This is why I felt it was necessary to reply and not let the thoughts slip by uncontested in the oft chance someone was confused by the comments..

lets stop bickering about technicalities and start appreciating what we have.

I pretty much think all of the hub-bub has died down for the most part.

I think that with the possible exception of the fellow who posted the comments over in the other forum everyone else, while not in violent agreement, are pretty much at the conclusion that the differences between the two firms products aren't a great deal apart, regardless of which one we'd personally select.

I do appreciate your wish to return to less contentious fare. I will endeavour to do so.
