why and why not? This watch, has the gold inserts cut into the titanium body..and some varuations had palladium instead of gold. Now, most were quartz. Some rare beasts, were automatic. They were launched in 1982, and were not well recieved, or at least, ... 

This is the 1988 Olympics edition which was a 1/100th of a second analog chronograph display combined with a incredible number of memories for lap time, etc. The design elements appeared in other places in Omega's product line, such as this German market ...
