Patek Philippe

The 5107

Not sure how much 'help' I can be. But here goes -
On the side of full disclosure: I'm not a watch 'collector'. Rather an enthusiast with a weakness for classic designs. I do own a Patek complication. I do not own a 5107 or a Lange.

Pretty obviously the 5107 is a watch that speaks to you. It does to me as well. I think it is simply stunning but not in an imposing way. It is the ultimate every-day, every occasion Patek. (Maybe even the perfect watch, if there was such a thing.)

Your Lange is a terrific piece IMHO. But there's something about the proportions, the look, of the 5107 that's impossible to beat. In YG it would never be out-classed. Tux? No problem. Jeans? Sure. It's great. I had the good fortune to be at a dinner recently where one of the guests sported a 5004. It is an incredible watch. But as I looked at it on the wrist, it looked clunky, a bit unbalanced. That'd never happen with the 5107.

So if you like it so much, go for it. Maybe put down a non-refundable deposit and set a business or professional goal as the buy trigger if that would help.

Wear it in good health.
