All right, let's play a game then...
... Imagine you can pay no more than 10000€ for a new sport watch. You get to your favorite watch shop and take a look at all the shelves from the street. On one of them you see three sport watches: One has reference number 126710BLNR and costs 8550€. Another one is called 114060 and it is sold for 6990€ and there is even a chronograph (116500LN) at 11400€. Inside the shop the salesman kindly offers you a discount on the price of the chronograph, which is apparently unsellable. Would you run the risk or just go straight to the watch you wanted to buy initially?

Of course some used ones too. But now I feel most just enjoy looking at their bank balance growing rather than their watch collection growing It's always 'look at how much $$$ my 1675 is worth now' rather than 'look at how beautiful my 1675 is'
I believe this is (often) the case for the AD, in most instances they actually find themselves in a very difficult position now, especially when acting honestly...
Who I find entirely inexcusable with their artificial shortages here is Rolex, who are not even strategizing smart in my opinion -- chances they'll lose this phony game and customers will get bored with it in the long run seem pretty high to me ;-)
