Vic Flick, was the session musician. He played on many famous recordings especially for Burt Bacharach, Nancy Sinatra and many others.

I presumed the guitar solo in the theme was a bass . . .

. . . but can't find corroboration online. Could it be the guitar was a six-string tuned to sound like a bass? Or the riff was altered in the recording studio to sound an octave lower? Art
