Yves Klein Blue canvas dial

Posting in timeout because this is about the art history behind the dial. Long time lurker, first post. I am a big Yves Klein fan. He has influenced how I treat color in my own art. I have always wanted a true IKB dial. Hand painted Belgian lenin a proper Klein reproduction. Since it didn't exist, I had to make my own. When I found out Resource Paints had partnered with the Klein estate to make a proper IKB I went for it. I used Belgian lenin and a paint roller with a long nap like Klein. So it would have the correct material and texture. Then came the trial and error. Finding the right combo of case, sterile dial, lenin, and movement has taken a while. I am a hobby watchmaker so I do have a small library of parts. I probably made 20 dial attempts. The end result was an Eta 6497-1 clone. The hands just cleared the thinnest artist grade lenin I found. It took a lot of work with a diamond file to get it to fit correctly. Without damaging the paint, it is very delicate. 4th attempt finally fit. Now I have my dream Klein dial with the correct materials and texture. Eventually I will upgrade to an Eta movement.
