Agreed with JMPTT. As a fellow 1942 owner, I asked that question at the VC boutique in NYC a few weeks ago (I was having some issues with the date wheels properly jumping).
Wind fully until it feels resistant to going forward, don't force it, just keep winding smoothly and the crown should jump back a bit when you hit the full wind.
Wear the blue dial well!

Beautiful watch. Resistance tends to increase going from fully unwound to partially wound, but you’ll have difficulty turning the crown further once the watch is fully wound.
