WristScan

A bit late.. Hmmhh.. Food for thoughts, as just ONE.. Well, so let me see what to chip-in to play this week !..

I reflected a bit: personal first real „good“ watch ? vs one passed on as a heirloom,
vs my first JLC, Rollie, etc etc..

Then I‘ve decided on a very special piece, one that probably would stay all way down
(let’s say at least one of the last two keepers):

It’s a piece with a lot of intense feelings, to also where I happened to find it: in my fav City of Lights, Paris
- my first “real good Vintage”..+ my first Chronograph
- and from the very brand, I more or less have longed for quite a bit..
- and thus, for me the very close to a perfect find, also in its completeness (full set), including
the watch itself (IMO great condition), original box (including inner silky wrap paper,
Extract of the Archives), and two more - very unexpected - cherries:

- the original (watch store) shopping bag (!), which in fact invokes this amazing smell of vintage paper ( yes, really great)
And a very special, somehow moving story behind it: Initially this piece was created in 1971, sold in 1974 (672 Francs)
and here comes the ultimate catch, was presented as a Christmas gift in 1978 to the buyer’s “Grand frere Jaques”,
whereby the recepient ( or the donor (?) Jean Claude) pretty likely was a pilot of Vintage planes, possibly of a quite similiar
plane, as those such a watch initially was meant for..

- which is further documented by a photograph, contained in the little box, displaying such a plane..
( Was it a present for the pilot ? - was it just reflecting its likely use ?
We will not know exactly, we can dream about it, which is occuring
every time I look on this watch & its epiphemalia..

- I’m not talking about price, some more than 8 years ago;
all I can say, meanwhile these left the station for pieces like this..

But  finally, what also for me, (who at the time was a soon to become a Purist),
links a lot to this our passion here..

Most importantly for me it generates very sweet memories, to the day of finding it,
and gratefulness to a very kind person (you know who you are !), who soon became a very good friend.
- Therefore big thanks to his encouragement and at that time kind guidance, when we both
coincidentally fell over this little treasure..

This time-piece is one of my two or three absolute keepers, but most likely the very one to go, if ever, at last !..

Well, enough of the dwellings here; just hope some of you
will not only like the watch, but also a good part of the story behind:

Here it is, my Breguet Type XX ( deuxième=2nd generation) with the Flyback
Chronograph function (“Retour en vol”)

Pls enjoy this Time Machine..

Gift, donor & recipient.. Also the story is a cherry..

Even after more than 8 yrs still a mesmerizing face..

When I look down - always magic..

Timeless pleasure
