Regarding your kind comments. Glad you liked my old 5512. Not every collector approves this kind of dial. I have my doubts sometimes too. But the old workhorse has a lot of character.
The GS Snowflake has a superb dial. The texture and color is much better to view it in the metal to really appreciate it. Really stunning.
You are right about the bluesy Submariner: Specially in my Country were we are very unsafe and a Rolex, even a plain steel Rolex is a coveted trophy for robbers, it is almost impossible to wear it or its brother in full gold that I also own. As a matter of fact I rarely wear them out of my home or at my working office.
Glad also you like the Snoopy shots. Can you believe me it I tell that when it was offered to me the first time I rejected it? I said: This is not for me. I changed of mind about a week later and when I contacted the seller he said: sorry already sold. But he promised to get another one for me. After a couple of months he phoned me again telling me that the new watch had arrived and I run to the shop to get it. At retail price!! Lol!

I think I’d have to go with the Voutilainen. I spent a lot of time - and some persuasion with Kari - in the color and dial design on this one. I steered away from the brighter colors towards something that I thought would stand the rest of time preference...

Thank-You Captain, the cultural impact of Patek's long-term efforts to preserve these ancient crafts is indeed inestimable..and is even more commendable if we think of the relatively little interest collectors had for these watches until a few years ago!
I'm sincerely grateful for Patek's work in this area, and....for being able to "take care" of a few of these marvels in my personal collection! Cheers.
The difficulty is …
Finding young apprentices to learn the craft. These skills take many years to develop and master. Not something the TickTock generation are passionate about.
Indeed, probably even more than watchmaking itself, discovering and training young talents at perpetuating rare handcrafts is the huge challenge....at least at the highest levels that Patek requires.
Perhaps one of our young readers, if passionate about --- and exceptionally talented at --- some of these ancient crafts, will be the next Jérôme Boutteçon or Anita Porchet? Cheers.
