Original design Piccadilly from 2005, when Peter was just getting his fledgling business off the ground.
Purity of design, with a strong DNA. Lovely enamel dial with elongated romans and those blued steel hands!

What is marketed today within what is put out as Speake-Marin, has IMO very little design brilliance of Peter’s work when he was at the helm. A shame, but I understand how the business side of the watch world often plays out. End of an era, but oh well. Reminiscing about those early days, I hope Peter gets back to designing and making lovely watches again. Perhaps not, but as the old saying goes, “Time will tell”

Here’s to hoping we see a Phoenix emerge from the ashes!

Maybe it’s because I’m sitting at LAX waiting to fly to Europe for Baselworld, and thinking back to 2003 when he & I first met.

Ah well, to the future, as that is where we must head inevitably,
