Safe Queens...
Up first is my paternal grandfather's watch from 1946. A Bernex purchased to celebrate the end of WWII. Cased in an English 9K YG case, it is quite delicate being a terribly thin gauge, hence a "Queen" plus the sentimental aspect!
The second offering is a very rare Tutima Military chrono with the USAF logo. After I had this serviced & the sand blasted case refinished several years ago, I want to preserve the exterior for a possible future owner...of course I've never considered selling it, so back into the safe it goes for now. As I type this I probably should wear it anyway!

I am surprised there is a remake. I wasn’t aware! By IWC ? It seems I’m not the only one in the world who find the model interesting. The remake is a bit different in that you see your arm trough the compass. Thanks for posting this!

... timepiece with a very unusual design which brings you much pleasure owning even if you actually never wear it. And this is enough motive to keep it in your collection! Will come back later with some pictures of a few Safe Queens from my own watch box....

I agree the world is becoming dangerous to watch collectors, sadly. The hobby has become more mainstream and with that much more attention on your wrist from criminals.

This one I bought new 2005. The pictures are recent, so as you can see it is like new.

It is just that now i dont like anything bigger that 40 mm and I prefer thin cases. Its just my preference now!
