I have the Datograph Up/Down and the standard Richard Lange. The Dato is the Dato - the watch that changed the industry with the incredible Cal. L951 - it never gets old and wears proudly. I take your point about the case size of the Richard Lange - but I certainly enjoy the overall heft of the watch. Like you, I've never owned a Zeitwerk - the Date in rose gold would be my choice.
To me, one of the many common threads between these three pieces is the engineering. Three brilliant complications, each bold and at the same time refined - prioritising both form and function. We're all different but I suspect that is one of the principal aspects that draws all of us to Lange and keeps our interest high.

I’ve never been able to buy a watch for function or innovation or technical aspects which just had a poor overall design (case, dial).
Many folks here seem to be able to do that. But in this case there was never a problem with the design, the dial, what the overall visual is.
It was just that little bit long, and so I was OK to give on that. I said above, if I was making that decision today I’m not sure I would have came to the same conclusion.
