The Duometre is far more interesting on a technical side, when the Dato is better finished.

What do you think of the Duomètre's two big second hands moving together, forming a bicolor rotating random angle running on the dial?
Do you find that it is a technical + aesthetical achievement?
I'm curious to hear your views on this...

The Duometre is the only Chronograph where Time and Chronograph are equally important.

So, time and chronogrpah informations are equally important.

You don't have the 2 big second hands moving all the time, as you have to use the chorongraph function for that.

On the other side what do you think about the Date of the Datograph, which is lacking a Zero on the first 9 days?

Is it a technical and aesthetical improvement, too?

I never read someone complaining about the 2 second hands of the Duometre, but I read several negative comments on the Date of the Datograph.

For your information, I never complained about the hands of the Duometre, nor about the Date of the Dato.

And I owned both, for several years.

Do you think that it is nice to watch two big seconds rotate together when the chrono is running?

As for the Dato lacking a 0 on the first digit, i believe this is a design choice, in order to avoid confusion between 01 and 10, 02 and 20, 03 and 30. And aesthetically, the benefit is that 1/3 of the days you have a slightly different-looking watch.
In any case, it must be deliberate, as obviously, if they had wanted, they could easily have created a 0 instead of the empty space.
I like it this way. It is easier to read, more interesting and it it adds personality to the Datograph's already strong personality.

Both are superior chronographs, of course, and too different to be comparable. I don't think that the Duo is there to compete with the Dato. They are totally different concepts.

And it is always healthy to have different views!

My opinion -- I agree with you both!  I would find a "0" superfluous on the Dato, but that may be a cultural difference.  Americans don't often refer to the date as "01", "02" etc.  As for the two rotating hands, I don't find it displeasing.  Again my opinion -- I find it aesthetically technical, in harmony with the general technicality this watch presents, particularly with respect to the movement.  (Nico, please don't misinterpret my use of "technicality", though, as an implication that there is lack of elegance. Movement side, I do find the Dato a much more elegant design, with the Duo exuding what I might term a refined technicality (and stunning). Dial side, both are simply beautiful to me.

Re-reading the above, I may sound a bit full of myself.  Apologies, but the descriptions are my earnest attempt to explain how both watches come across to me!

I find the cons of the Dato to be its strenght, and the Duometre as a very nice, interesting and important watch.

I wouldn't say that one is superior to the other.

They are not playing on the same ground, in my opinion, for the reasons already mentionned.

So, you see, you didn't miss nothing.

I am a difficult client, for sure, but hey, when you love, you always have exigences.

For a second I thought you were referring to me ;-)

Nicolas, your story never leaves my mind.  I still feel for you and the lost pieces.  I remind myself I am on Earth for a greater purpose, and I live for God and my Family.  Still, it is natural for us to develop strong feelings and emotions for possessions, and to lose them can be devastating.

Your dilemma is understandable.  Simply replacing each piece (which could probably be cost prohibitive too) is likely not the answer.  I wish the D2 could be the replacement of your D1, but I don't think that will end up happening.

I sincerely thank you for sharing these photos.  I can tell you back when I was flirting with the watch I scoured the net for the very best photos to set in a folder to drool over, and some of these images were there.  Perhaps one day it will be more than just a dream...

I doubt the Dato II will replace the Dato I in my heart...

The Dato I was an icon. The Dato II seems to not be my cup of tea, which is a pity, because a slightly thinner bezel, a case with the same thickness bu one or two millieters bigger, and NO Power Reserve indicator + some great technical improvements such as the power reserve, all that could have made a great watch...

Alas, the power reseve indicator seems to be a no go for me...

I'm not that french!

As for the watch, I will take my time, but I will certainly build my Chrono collection, once again.

And I didn't loose all, as I still have the box and the papers.
