Cartier reentering the fine watchmaking realm back in 1999/2000 by reanimating the Tortue and by putting the THA monopusher chronograph into it.

1997...the transition year...the Pre-A models
due to growing money problems, Panerai decided to "chuck it all in". As a consequence, the watch division is sold to the Vendome Group.The "swan song" is danced by some models that hadn't had a chance to be produced by...them Italians. While taking inventory and presumably deciding the future production, the "Swiss" emptied the drawers and launched some..crepuscular...models, with all the Pre-Vendome left over dials, cases, parts and accessories. These are known as Pre-A models and are: PAM001-002-003-004-009-010. The definition Pre-A because the official Swiss production began in 1998 with the A-serial, which featured new dials, cases, parts and accessories. Below, my 3 Pre-As:
