I really just stumbled upon this one. Always searching for vintage GS and often those little shops in the back alleys carrying cheap old GS also...
....often have other cheap old Seikos. The “cheap” may not be so true any more as many of these vintage GS and Seiko have doubled or tripled in price in the last several years.

... and each time I put it on my wrist to enjoy it I hesitate and take it off and put inside its case again.

I have quite a few others. I never keep anything in the 'plastic' so to speak but things end up in the Bank for too long some times due to living in a few different countries on opposite sides of the planet. Some like the 5098P I thought I would like but I really haven't worn.
I always found it very elegant and I like the case shape and dial a lot
Do you think that it is because it is too "retro"/ elegant?. I thought about this one several times but there is also perhaps too elegant like it would go better with a tux than my much more casual style?!

It’s more than double the weight of the Vianney Halter Classic!

I’m jealous about your VH. I’ve considered it many times.
My fear was if it would get enough wrist time. Also if it would be fragile with those sharp edges so it would only be for very special occasions. What is your experience with it as an owner?

Only comes out on special occasions or around the house, I’m afraid. But it hasn’t got many scars, thankfully.
Vianney said a polish back to new condition takes almost an entire week, so just wear it.

The Seiko 2220-0630. A Playboy branded watch but having a hand wound hi-beat movement and palladium case - from 1978, IIRC.
My Breitling Aerospace. A graduation present, which I love most dearly but wear very rarely nowadays.
A Porsche Design IWC Ref. 3520. Also a present, which I likewise really appreciate but don’t wear too often.
A Bulova Accutron II. I really liked the watch and was happy to get it. But somehow it’s never really been worn. Fantastic accuracy at the price point, at less than 15 seconds a year.
And finally the Gerald Genta designed Universal Geneve White Shadow Ultra-Slim. Very much up my alley but rarely worn 🤷🏻♂️
