If movements are the heart of our beloved watches I feel dials are the soul of them.
Many times the dial is what makes me fall in love with a watch.
What I specially love in dials are colors and textures and in chronos their different scales.
Dials can be enhanced with an special window belonging to a complication. E.g. moon phases.

Hello dear Nicolas! Thank you for your kind comments. The GP is a very interesting old chrono indeed. The YM... never paid much attention to this watch till I viewed a photograph taken...
... by you at the famous Vlad balcony several years ago. If memory doesn´t fail me, you were wearing it with a grey jersey. That picture made me go downtown in search for my own YM as I felt I badly needed one for my collection. It´s grained silver dial surface is truly amazing and the little red touches add much charm to this unique watch.
Fortunately I found one in almost NOS condition which I took home immediately. Now one of my favorite Rolex.

... I took a series of shots of this watch just a few hours after reaching home from the watch shop. So excited to record this jewel just arrived I took several shots in haste without removing the stickers.
Then for some personal reasons I had to leave this watch (and another several ones) in a bank vault in a foreign Country. That was in 2018 and I couldn´t travel again to that Country where they are still waiting for me to enjoy it.
It seems this year I will not be able to travel again, so... the ceremony of taking the stickers off will be relegated to better times as well as the pleasure of enjoying many other watches. Who knows when...
Believe me that these pandemia years have motivated me to think a lot about my greediness as a collector and the true enjoyment of the pieces I own which is only possible when you can wear them on the wrist.

... on the platinum dials of first years of production.
Anyway the YM is a beautiful model in all variants and years including the present versions.

You are right, I should start hunting.
The more I think of it, it may well be my favourite Rolex dial of all time. Many will likely not agree, but I am deeply partial to the frosted texture and find it a wonderful way to showcase the unique properties of platinum in a restrained manner.
Yes, its dial is really something. Mine is a rf 16622 from 2005. I read somewhere that this frosted dial was changed in later versions for a different surface which doesn´t show this "grain" as in the first...
... years. You should check this detail as I don´t really know. Rolex did a wonderful job with this timepiece but I hadn´t the opportunity of viewing in the metal the later references.
