My Black Swan was also handed down from Pops . . .
. . . but this one took a circuitous route . . .
. . . thru my sibling, who received it many years ago, and then forwarded it on to me when he learned I collected watches. Of course, it went straight to my watchmaker, who made two comments when I retrieved it: first, there was practically no wear at all on the movement, and second, the back was wedded to the case due to a decomposed gasket. He had to add extensions onto the caseback wrench to pry it off!
Now, I wouldn't normally find much favor with a watch like this, but its family origins and practically untouched condition have made this humble Seiko a personal favorite.
That is a definition of black swan ...

The only time that I saw my watchmaker curse (he is a very religious person) was when he was trying to open a back of a watch.

well Damjan, he may not have known it, but he chose a bomb proof movement
whatever you may now think of the watch as a timepiece you know that the movement will run forever.
thats what a future heirloom should do.
