... As you know i am big fan of the 5270. Haven't seen this one in the metal yet, but until now, i cannot figure out the color of the dial.

The Opalin silver is a true silvery dial (light grey with a blue hue). The rose gold case brings then more warmth and makes the overall watch harmonious.

I couldn't have them side by side but the 5496R's dial color looked the same to me.

is the pricing:

First, placing 2 complications in a single case is more difficult than to have them separetely in two different watches. The more you add complications in a single watch, the more difficult it is to make them work together.

So a QP+Chrono is more difficult to craft than a QP alone or a chrono alone.

However, I think that you have already an anwser to your interrogation: you seem to prefer getting a QP and a chrono separetely already and that you are not that fond of the Chrono+QP references right now.

You like the 240, you like thin watches, you maybe like switching: you definitely prefer these watches because of what they offer in terms of aesthetics and movement, more than the 5270's. This is a perfect way to go and getting a 5270 is not an obligation at all

For instance, as far as I'm concerned, I love the whole iconic combination and the place it had in Patek's history: this is subjective and just my own way.

if Patek would introduce i.e. 5270P with black enamel dial...

In the mean time I think these colors (black, blue) and materials (enamel) should be used wisely or I think it may loose its rarity.

It is the fact we don't find them much that we like them so much

They need to slow down on the blue dials.As I have my name on 5905P blue list,I was just thinking if blue dials are on fashion these days and in few years it's going to look out of fashion!!
Although I am a white metal guy,I love the warm color of the rose gold in your photos and believe it suits the watch history a lot.Probably my favorite 5270 till now.............along with the first generation white gold

I ordered only one as Patek will surely change the dial in case I will feel later that I made a mistake. Because of the more understated  calendar data, I ordered black. The other reason is that I have so many blue dial Patek, that I could open a shop specialised in blue. 

Change the dial??!!!! Is that even possible or is it just a VIP service.
I like the black as well and appreciate the black background on the calendar,I don't think you can mix the word mistake with either.

I have slowed down on acquiring new watches as of late, but it is nice to have something to aspire to.  I am in agreement with Raymond, this is my grail watch also.  It is possible but it will take a few years of saving and patience.  Gives me something to look forward to and work towards   Great report and great pictures. You have revived my excitement about collecting with this one.

This is grail territory for me for sure. I have been smitten by this model since I read about it for the first time. I have tried without success to see one. Thank you for explaining all the improvement's this model brings us! Maybe someday....

I love my 5970P more



I do feel given the small numbers (I'm guessing) the 5270 with the so called "chin" will become collectible - particularly if numbers of the 5270 remain small overall...it's just the sort of thing to pull a surprise at an auction one day and start a frenzy

I will not buy the "chin" because of the speculative future value. If the life will go as planned, it's only my "Next Generation" who needs to think about the values. Furthermore, I think that the chin is spoiling the balance of the dial.
Your 5970P is great. I hope 5270P will have also a shiny black dial. I might be tempted...

It seems in recent years there have been a lot of releases with black dials 5170G, 5370G, 5271P just last year, 5396G Tiffany before - in order to keep black dials on complications special I hope that there won't be any more for a while...

I was on the verge to think that way too but when I thought about it, these watches (High-end) are very rarely seen in the wild. It's the least we can say.

So, black and blue dials will be even rarer.

Thus, the only place where we seem to think they are less rare is on a watch forumbecause of the reviews and pictures of any kind we see each week: yes we see more blue/black dials but, on the other hand, in the "real life" they are still as rare.

So, finally, if it allows clients to have more possibilities instead of the very high budget watches only, then I'm ok with that
