This collection is indeed a good basis for nice talks about Patek watchmaking :)
As you say, the "Grand Exhibition" terms are not oversold and I really appreciate what Patek has done to promote fine watchmaking throught this event.
During a time when the watch field needs it, they have shown their strengh even more.
The number of pieces is always an issue. Too high is not good but too low and too many people would be frustrated and sepculation would thrive even more. The balance here, considering the demand for such Patek pieces, is imho perfect.
We usually want to have a 10-piece edition while being accepted to get it in the mean time. That's a tougher situation. The number should be seen considering the demand, overall volumes etc...
It is a less elitist approach for such a brand which is already difficult to get to regarding limited editions of all kind.

My Favorite is definitely the 5531R. "Night" dial matches very well with the RG case. Of course, the "Day" dial has a very stunning persona as well.
Then, comes the 2 NY skyline pocket watches! The amazing detail work of the enamel of the pocket watches renders one speechless!
Of course, the 5230 and 7130 matching set is a wonderful combination to have as well.

Watchpro Patek event at Cipriani last evening
A spectacular event; the venue perfect, the PP staff/craftspeople most informing and accommodating; and of course the event limited edition pieces were very special, the historic PP museum pieces, a joy to view in person along with the entire collection. Overall, SUPERLATIVE. Hoping all enjoyed, as did I. STEVE PS: My favorites-5522 Pilot's watch, and the world time minute repeater, an engineering feat 5531.

I feel a lot of talent has been put in this watch, mechanically or aesthetically speaking.
It is always nice to be able to admire a watch without any consideration of pricing matters. Just for the pleasure.

I am almost envious of the Americans who will have the first shot at acquiring these lovely watches. I look forward to the next exhibition in 2019 in Singapore or Hong Kong (venue still undecided) and hopefully by then, I would have established a relationship with the ADs in these countries.

Yes, I regret I couldn't attend either but the different reports we had and feedback were really nice in orer to live the event from our areas.
I'm sure we'll have pictures of these beauties, wristhots etc... and we can share purists' pleasure when they get theirs
