I love the movement!
The design, the finishing and even the size but I wish they made the watch in 37 or 37.5mm. It is possible with a 31mm movement and a thin bezel. I feel the dial is quite ordinary and could be improved with Breguet hands and numerals or even Roman numerals and spade hands. The minute railway track is a nice touch though. Also, I love the curved lugs which helps make up for the 39mm case. I look forward to tryring one on,.
Any movement experts know how difficult or simple this is to make as a center seconds?

Not a big fan of the hobnail bezel I must admit. Glad that Patek brought in a new look/calibre for the Calatrava, although it looks like they are borrowing some from their competitors ...twin main spring barrels like Lange, a similarity to VC for the dial

i think the hobnail and bauhaus elements are likely incongruent
- the 5119 was cohesive and the 5196 is as well.
Maybe the point is that this is pure patek calatrava and that the design purity isn't important anymore - my 11 year old thought the rose version looked very "old"

See I’m the opposite.
I think it works when the lugs curve into the case. Some of the older calatrava that have lugs that just terminate directly into the case and have a hobnail, look ok, but the hobnail takes up all the visual. When there is more polished case around the hobnail I think it gives the look more room to breathe.

Waiting for a new '"5196" in G or P equipped with this new movement.
It has been a long long wait. Although I still prefer the bridge shapes of the old small 215, this one at least is bigger and the second hand on the dial won't look too out of place. Hope more nice references will follow in the coming decade.
I first thought the hobnail was a tad over powering. But the more I see, the more I like.
