There is no question that it was UN ( not GP) that used silicium first, in the Freak as the first production watch made using silicium.
I think the mistake was a confusion between GP and UN , in the statement made by Mr Stern in the interview. Just to set the details correctly.
Probably too many companies and watches to keep track of.

I just report what was said....."accurately" and as recorded.
Those are the comments as presented by Mr Stern.
As you know, some companies (named and un-named) entered a contractual agreement to co-develop and also chose whether to reveal or not to the public -- what their involvement in new materials technology was / is / will be.......
There may be conflict of contractual interest to talk about certain things and other specific companies.
There are also a lot of things that Mr Stern knows in the background as an insider and has chosen to reveal (or not) in his interviews.
