one cannot help but ask if anyone actually used it as it was intended....or just designed it. So many objects seem to be designed by people who either don't use them or think the visuals are more important than the practicals. )
Funny enough, the sales person did casually suggest that I treat it with care and not to over wind it as he has seen a few cases of broken spring. That left me wonder a bit on the durability of the watch. But the Kari review gave me the final comfort.

because it's a single barrel with a long long spring. As you wind it the tension level goes from modest to quite high - perhaps moreso than a traditional manual wind with a shorter power reserve. I think one can more likely not wind it enough because of that. Velo
Of the two shown, I prefer the Vacheron – but in the interest of making sure you’ve evaluated all options, I’d have to suggest looking at the Mosers, even if the Mayu/Endeavour/Venturer are another 1.5-2mm bigger.
I too have thought long and hard about his as am a dress watch kind of guy. If money was no object I would go for VC in platinum ... only critique is that the caliber is a bit old ... however, the Lange in while gold is great value. Either way, you should be happy. But I concur pink gold on VC very appropriate for dressier occasions.
While the size of the subdial is a bit small, it is very prominent visually, maybe a little bit too much. But the overall look is more than acceptable to me.
I just pulled the trigger and collected my VC an hour ago. Thank you everyone for your valuable comments. This is my first VC and hope there will be a few more to come. Though this is not a new model, I do feel that VC is doing something interesting lately to revive the brand especially with the launch of the new overseas model.
Attached are few snapshots on my new acquisition. Finishing is to notch. I can imagine it goes well with casual outfits too. The VC rose gold color is generally subtle compared to other brands. In fact, kind of hard to get the right color with iPhone.
The crown is a bit small and therefore not as pleasurable as winding the lange or a grand seiko. But overall experience is acceptable and doesn't take long to fully wind it. I resist the temptation to further wind it just to check the actual power reserve
