Boiling it down,
I guess I'm going after the polar opposite of my Felix, but when put together make a formidibile pair. So, in actual terms this means:
-sport watch with bracelet and /or rubber option
-42mm would be max, but more importantly under 50 mm lug to lug
-14 mm max thickness
- black or colour dial
- would like my watch collection, wherever it may lead me, to make sense and have some overarching theme, besides 'I like 'em.' I thought long and hard to arrive at the Felix, which for me is the perfect watch 5 days a week.
Yes, as you suggest, I really need to visit and try things on, and also see them next to the Felix.

. . . would be the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence.
Up to date with the latest technical innovations, classical styling, size and proportions within your spec. And you won't see many on others wrists.
No bracelet availability as of this moment, but I'm sure that will change down the road.

I remember reading about that watch and thinking 'Finally.'
With that said, it would be very similar in style to a Stowa pilot (grey dial) that I've got.
Truth be told, though, my third 'fun' watch I've had in the back of my mind for the longest time is the GO panoreserve in black or now blue. One of the few watches I've ever tried on that really felt deserving of its price tag

Would you consider vintage?
Since you have modern watches, and seem to be considering mostly moderns.
Perhaps a Rolex GMT2 for a dash of colour, or a vintage Sub with some patina?
These would fit your criteria for having a bracelet watch for summer, and the dark dials would be a contrast to your white Felix. Plus a GMT2 or a patina-ed Sub would add a bit of colour.

I think I have discarded vintage,
Which makes the decision a bit easier.
I think vintage would just open a whole different rabbit hole of collecting/hobby etc. that I'd rather save myself from (knowing how I get). I'll perhaps look at 5 digit Rolex from max 2002 and onwards, but even then I have trouble paying a price over new which basically just discounts the price of a good RSC cleaning + a couple hundred euro.
I have a DJ 16233, and between that and the 16570, I've never got the bracelet to fit right in the very hot and humid climate where I live (which is not my native country).
The real reason I suppose is this: the 16233 was my father's watch and one of the only things I have of his. I want my son to have my watches, not a watch that spent a lifetime somewhere else. I know this line of reasoning seems silly to some, but it is what it is.
