Horological Meandering

Thanks to the advise. AP did give me the quotation for the replacement of  a new movement. My thinking is why they refused to overhaul the original one which is still running every day (loosing some 10 seconds/ day). Anyway, I have surrendered. This watch will sleep in my safe for the rest of my life.

Love that Jumbo beauty. The bigger and thinner case makes it a special watch to enjoy.  Love the "retro" look dial.

 

Beautiful Nautilus also. (one of my fav indeed).

Congratulations, Nicolas, on the return of this lovely watch.  Its stay with AP has resulted in a fine, restored timepiece.  I like quite a few AP ROOs, but find myself more drawn toward the look of the Royal Oak.  I just saw Aaron's post on APs, and responded to him that a tantalum and rose gold RO would be my ideal.  I would not be opposed to a model like yours either!  Your RO is the epitome of a gentlemen's sport watch.  Enjoy your iconic beauty!

This jumbo is difficult to beat, indeed, in terms of elegance and purity of the design.

I even think that a bigger size makes it loose its balance, hence my reserve on the ROOs.

A killer, heeeerm... a keeper!

It is still a unique feeling to wear this watch. I also serviced it because of water resistance issues. This a watch you can wear in any occasions with a subtle and understated sense of elegance and sophistication.

Could to know that it was a great experience with AP-Service.

Luck was on my side with this Vintage RO, indeed.

First because I found it with the original box and a warranty paper, then because things worked nicely with AP.

But this last point wasn't a surprise, to me.

I'm very happy to own such a watch.

I'm totally mesmerized by its powerful beauty, and discover it ( and love it ) more and more.

Went to see one of them at the boutique in Paris but they had the white dial only :-(
Is your Royal Oak the blue one (15202st.oo.0944st.03) or the grey (15202st.oo.0944st.02)?
In case it's the blue one, is it "dark" blue?

So the Blue of the dial has faded in a nice greyish slight brown on the top of the " tapisserie "  color.

It is normal you don't find the same in the current production.

Beautiful watch Nicolas and how lucky you were to be able to get a New Original dial. I have a RO Jumbo B serie which will come back in 1-2 weeks time from a complete service + refurbishing from AP. When they sent me the quotation they suggested a change of dial as mine had a little "corrosion" (brownish marks) near the centre of it, I did aggree but only if I could get the original with AP above 6 O'clock. Few months later they sent me a picture showing the new dial saying that unfortunately they did not have an original in stock anymore and they could instead put the new one with AP at 12 O'clock,  after receiving some advices ( good IMO)  from this Forum I decided not to change the dial, meaning that the entire watch has been restored but the old "stained" dial will still be on it. I'll post some pics as soon as it arrives.

The original dial is part of the charm of this watch, its signature, if I may say so.
