Crosshair 'meaning'
Could be to just segment time in 3-hours chunks, beyond and besides the customary 1-h unit?
Its the only sense it makes to me. Some usefulness could be argued, especially for some types of activities.
It is generally accepted that we can hardly manage more than 7-10 simultaneous things in our mind (for instance, thats the max number of items recommended in presentation-slides for 'efficient' presentations). By the same token, we could fully 'manage' just 7-10 time units in our mind. It makes then sense to consider 3-h units, of which a whole day would contain about 6-7 ( if you imagine that 8h go into one big 'sleep-time' unit, amd the remaining 16 hours are organized in 5 to 6 3-hour units).
