I just bought a lovely Quantieme Lunaire, the 2014 Limited Edition Series with the Enamel Dial, after wanting one for several years. This piece is fantastic, as you know. It came with the 18k white gold pin buckle, and I much prefer the Double Folding Clasp. The clasp doesn't feel uncomfortable to me, and like the added security/reduced risk of dropping. A bit of background:
I bought a JLC Master Control Chronograph several years ago, and it came with that lovely 'Beads of Rice' bracelet. At the time, I envisioned myself swapping between bracelet and strap, and I bought a JLC stainless steel double deployant clasp with JLC alligator strap. I have come to like the stainless steel bracelet so much, I never installed the strap and clasp- they have been sitting in my drawer for several years now.
New JLC double deployant clasps in 18k white gold retail for (gulp) US$3,200, and that just feels a bit indigestible, considering I have this unused steel clasp ready to use. I am aware the colors of the metals are a bit different. Now, for the questions:
>Could I (or you) somehow justify buying the white gold clasp? Perhaps because its heavier weight might better balance the heavy watch on top of my wrist?
>Would you banish me from the Duometre Club if it became known that I wore my White Gold Quantieme Lunaire with a Stainless Steel Clasp?
Please let me know your thoughts. Many thanks!
