as a replacement for the Amvox I which is the nicest of the lot as far as I am concerned. I'm just not to fond of busy dials. So put that 956 caliber in a slightly new case and make me a happy guy!
Thanks for the post.

I know there has been discussion about this topic before, the relationship of JLC and AM and JLC's "history" of making automobile instruments. Today, JLC itself posted an interesting statement on its Official Facebook page:
"DID YOU KNOW? In the 20's, Jaeger-LeCoultre founded a small factory specialized in automobile instruments. Within a few years, a large number of luxury and race cars were equipped with Jaeger instruments. Among them were... Aston Martin cars."
Here is the link to the page:

At any rate, IMHO this history helps to strengthen the basis for the co-branding between the two companies and contyributes to the integrity of the AMVOX line of watches.
Viva AMVOX!

And from you Nicolas!
This is the best way to see a new watch (if you don’t have the opportunity to see it IRL)!
They look very nice – big, strong and excellent in details
Thank you for your effort putting them on display for us!

...but I bet a lot of folks will love it. There's just way too much going on for me on the dial of this watch -- chrono counters, waffle pattern, open dial, world timer display...it's all a jumble of information IMO. Between the two, the titanium/ceramic version is preferable to me.
Thanks for the great pictures, Nicolas!
Cheers,
Daos
Well done, JLC. And as usual...well done Nicolas!
I very much appreciate your insight and personal comments - we dont need to be in love with everything new (better not...this would be a disaster for our wallets)
Personally i like the Amvox 5. The combination with the World time is useful and the design is well done - consistent with earlier AMVOX II models. I very much like the fact that JLC moved to cermics and replaced DLC coating - it adds value in my opinion.
Yes, no unique chronograph mechanism - vertical trigger - anymore, but then we had a nice number of great AMVOX II types, and i agree with Nicolas that this is just a new chapter in the AMVOX line. This is the true strenghts of the "Grande Maison" - they have so many movements and innovations that JLC can afford to put the vertical trigger mechanism aside for a while.
Overall, if i was pressed for a purchasing decision, i would still prefer the AMVOX II over the AMVOX 5. It is more unique and has the same great looks - just a phatastic watch.
One more comment about the number 4 - based on my modest Chinese language skills: yes, 4 is a number to be avoided because the "si" (=4) has the same pronounciation as "si" (=death). Just the tone is different. Numbers are anyway more important in the the Chinese cultural context so yes it matters. It has relevance to the rest of Asia as well even they speak different languages - there is a strong and very influentual Chinese mimority in every country in south east Asia. And finally in terms of relevance of China to the industry: i learned recently that China became the biggest market for Swatch group last year.
Cheers,
Stefan
About the Amvox V, I think it needs time to fully appreciate it, and also time to forget a bit the A II, which is, IMO, a very important watch, in the Amvox family.
I strongly believe that it is all about another page, as well as other Amvoxes to come.
The page one has gone, as well as the page two.
Others are still " alive "...Page III ( Amvox III ), and now, Page V.
Others are still to be written, and I'm sure that they will be exciting, too.
As for the fact that JLC avoided the 4, to directly jump on the V, I think it is smart, and better, respectful to the Culture of some of us.
Let's imagine a guy who is " desperately " in love with the watch, but who won't dare get it because of he number?
Frustration?
Best,
Nicolas
The DBS is an Amvox II.
Some love it, others not.
As for the Amvox III, it is exactly the same.
It is all a matter of taste, and regarding this matter, this is really subjective.
I think the Amvox V needs a bit of time to be fully appreciated...or hated.
Best,
Nicolas
Does anyone know why JLC seem to have stopped using the "S" prefix for daylight saving on recent worldtime models? I thought that was a good thing, albeit a bit messy on the dial.
Without it, doesn't it mean that reading overseas location time is only accurate for half of the year for those cities which do not adjust the hour during summer?
Well done, JLC. And as usual...well done Nicolas!

I wonder?
well done for the ceramic case: I loved the one of Amvox 3. I like this one very much too. the finish obtained on this material is simply perfect.
20% of the world population believe in lucky and unlucky as here below defined numbers:
IV - Four is the most dreaded number - it means death
0 Zero -- simply means All or NOTHING as it is an absolute number
1 One -- Individual. Aggressor -- "The Yang which is the other balance of Yin"
2 Two -- Stability or Balance means Union or Receptive. "The Yin which is the other balance of Yang
3 Three -- means talking and understanding --Communication plus interaction plus Neutrality.
4 Four -- Creation, Death
5 Five -- Action or Restlessness.
6 Six -- Fluidity, Responsibility, Reaction
7 Seven -- Mind, Consciousness and thoughts
8 Eight -- Sacrifice, Work Hard and Power, Infinite -- no beginning no ending, continuous.
9 Nine -- Highest level of change
10 Ten -- Being born again or Rebirth
