you know i was seeing one Memovox Parking Pocket Alarm, but that time i am not sure the center disk with parking numbers are correct or replacement. i did not go for that!

did you know JLC had make Memovox Parking for Pocket Alarm?

I haven't personally seen a Pocket Alarm with a parking dial and don't remember seeing one in my catalogs. I'll look again. It wouldn't surprise me that they made such a model since they are from the same period as the Worldtime dials and Pocket Alarms were made with WT dials.

I've been lucky enough to find 4 examples of the scarce (2,000 made) caliber 601 Memovox (alarm pointer hand instead of rotating alarm disc) for my collection, but I recently noticed that I also have its twin in a U.S. version watch.

The cal 601 movement was only installed in Swiss market watches and (to the best of my knowledge) only one case style:



Notice the case similarity to its U.S. counterpart (dimensions are identical):



The JLC cal 601 Memovox has an 80 micron gold plated (gold-filled by U.S. standards) case with Swiss markings and was made for JLC by Wadsworth:



Compare the Swiss case above to the U.S. case, also made by Wadsworth, but stamped with U.S. markings:



The production dates are also very close together, with the cal 601 movement having a 735,000 serial number (1952) that is just 15,000 away from the serial number of the caliber 489/1 movement in the U.S. watch:

…a history I and I think many others didn’t know about!

 

And for that I thank you greatly, even if it will cost me a lot of sleepless nights!

I suppose I've tended to collect a lot of the U.S.-model LeCoultre watches in the past because the history was so undocumented and interesting. I've slowly been able to piece some parts of the puzzle by collecting old dealer bulletins, documents and catalogs, digging through old vintage advertisements and buying lots and lots (and lots) of watches.

I've had the U.S. version of the Parking, but not the Swiss (pictures somewhere in my computer, but having trouble finding). I like the Swiss version much better. That's one I need to acquire some day. Yours is simply stunning! Congrats!

Crazy?! No, just different tactic…

 

Get one when you have a chance and if a better one comes along, do a upgrade!

 

 

The only hitch in this tactic is that I have problem letting go of watches…
