Hello Vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Lovers,
Sorry for the long absence, it has been some month with too much work and too little watches…
Only a few days off during the Holidays – so what could be better than going deeper into the archive..?!
Plus; I promised another part before the New Year.
So, where to start..?
How about – Basel, 1950?
Jaeger-LeCoultre announces the birth of the Alarm wrist watch!
Jaeger-LeCoultre, English ad, 1950.
The mother of them all – the Ref 3150.
So, how does it work?
Jaeger-LeCoultre, English article, 1950.
Very characteristic for the Ref 3150 are the tubular lugs.
The Memovox is advertised to have many different areas of use…
reminds – warns – awakens

A returning theme in many of JLC’s ads.

Basel, 1951 – Memovox was the big number for Jaeger-LeCoultre.

One display totally dedicated to the Memovox.
The big difference between Ref 3150 and Ref 3151are the lugs.
Ref 3151 has more traditional lugs, both with the Cal 489.

Actually – it was launched all over the world!

And for the French speaking…
Jaeger-LeCoultre, French article, 1956.
Another early bird – Ref E 851 also using the Cal 489.
If I am not misinformed the Ref 3155 used the Cal 601.
And again the Ref 3151, Cal 489.
Jaeger-LeCoultre, Swedish catalogue, mid(?) 1950’s.
Here are a couple of other variations on the same theme;
Calendar/Note book.

Telephone meeting.
Jaeger-LeCoultre, English ads, 1954.
Another telephone ad.
Jaeger-LeCoultre, French ad, 1953.
It’s not that strange considering this was before Outlook and all other apps that alerts us of important events during our day…
Gift theme…
Jaeger-LeCoultre, English ads, 1956.
So many variations – both in ads and dials…
If they only knew what madness this would bring 60+ years later…!!
A couple of wrist shots with the ladies.

Ladies, thank you so much for what you started!
There are a lot more ads with the Memovox inside – this was just some of mine from the early period.
Keep posted – will try to put together a post about the late-1950’s to mid-1960’s soon.
Thank you for reading this Part 10 of this Vintage Ads Series.
Hope you enjoyed!

Well, thank you – very kind!
But I know at least two guys in Paris that are more suited…
You are right – I am back (for a short while).
A few days off from work gives time to go deeper into the archive!
Thank you for your always so kind words, my friend!
All the best to you and yours!

These ads are fun to see and read. I love how you have pretty much every watch in these ads. LOL.
Hope there is less work and more watches in the new year.
Best,
respo
I hope so too, Respo!
Otherwise – how will I have time for watches..?!
I wish you a happy end of 2011 and a great 2012, my friend!

JLC was very prolific withe the Memovox.
Through years, the messages were brilliant, indeed, with the sempiternal " Reminds, warns, awakens ".
It is also the opportuntiy to rediscover some other watches:
On the ad from 1953, there is another superb watch, the disc date, the round one.
I think there was no other watch on which JLC communicated so massively.
Some interesting slices of history, here.
Thanks for sharing, my friend.
Best,
Nicolas
The disc date – absolutely!
Did you notice the Triple Moon Face?
So many reasons to come back to these documents…
Thank you, my dear friend - the pleasure is all mine!

Hopefully you will get it next time!
Would love to add a Moon face - but right now I have to try to close some other themes first…
Before starting too many new…

Next year I hope to share some more “odd” stuff…
Haven’t decided yet, but it might have something to do with cars…?!
Thank you, my friend!
