anyway, thanks for sharing your view on this elegant classic. by the way, it is not only having superb dial, but also having the fine finishing of the movement. looking at it that reminds one of my pocket watches that also very nice finishing of the movement and similar layout.

Really a wonderful piece with all the ingredients
of a so desirable vintage,a true example of JLC Heritage.
Gratefully, I also recall the happy moment to see her in the real, thanks to your kindness.

For me this is indeed a magnificent example for JLC at its best,
specifically when considering the time of origin -
well - timeless marvel !!

Generally, I also adore these TD's, and happily enjoy mine,
I had been lucky to find some time ago (though on a somewhat more common scale).

On yours this combination of colors on the black contrasting background is stunning.
Also loved your golden statement about the criteria of a  fine watch  -
"A fine case, a great dial and a nice movement" ..

there was already an alarm in production and they released a TTpolaris,
there was already a diver  and they delivered a TT Deep sea,
so they have a triple calendar and.....as you said a manual movement with exquisite finish.......That would be great.

This is my JLC triple date moon phase.  I bought it from South Africa, at first, I thought it was rather small, 35mm without crown, but I fell in Love, what can I say

The Triple Date / Triple Date Moonphase (Aka Calendar), and more generally the Teardrop family is what I consider to be vintage Jaeger LeCoultre most refined watches.

Not only are they extremely elegant and detailed, but, as you rightly pointed, the level of finishing of their movement is unequalled in the production of Jaeger LeCoultre at the time.

Moreover, the variety of versions of both case (small / large, SS, 14k, 18k yellow, 18k/19k Pink, SS+Gold, godron or smooth edge) and dial (with / without moon, silver, black, salmon, gold, applied index, applied numbers, painted numbers...) makes this line a very interesting collecting thema in itself.

I have owned 10 of these triple date (still have 8) and they were 9 different versions... and there is probably twice this number if you want them all !

 

Current sample  (2 are still with the watchmaker for service are are missing from the family picture, a good reminder to ring him to get them back !)
