2014 Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph: REVIEW 1 year later

About a year ago, I wrote a personal owner's review of the 2014 Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph. CLICK the following URL link to read it:

The most striking thing I wrote was:

"If 'The Eyes are the Windows to your Soul', then the dial is the portal to the character of a watch. The 2014 Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph has a distinctive dial. The striking contrast of black chronograph sub-dials on a snailed light background with yellow highlights attracts urgent and rapt attention. Maybe it’s the universal warning signal from motor racing or Nature that evokes such base feelings?  The warning yellow flags on the race track and the skin marking of venomous snakes and insects only reinforce that urgency.

I was immediately drawn to it and it has proven to be one of my more vivid watches. Every time I look at it, a little frisson of excitement courses through my being."

Now, a year later, what is the update?

Unusual for me, this Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph stayed on my wrist daily for the first month. That is saying something because I usually rotate watches daily or at least every week.

It still gives me a frisson of excitement every time I put it on.

A year ago, it was one of my more vivid dials but that only sparked off interest in coloured dials that included this year's Mille Miglia Race watch.

I still rotate the Chopard GPdMH Chronograph 2014 on my wrist although I'm a bit more selective about the chosen occasion as it is THAT special.

Watching F1 Grand Prix races...

My distorted view of the GPdMH has no bounds.....

Everything still works as specified. The pushers click crisply and the chronograph functions as reliably.

The dial yellow highlights still attract favourable comments.

The bezel is pristine to the naked eye and resistant to scratches.

The Barenia leather strap has behaved impeccably, resisting rain and sweat.

It is true that mild surface scratches on the strap seem to self-repair.

As I do not wear the watch daily nowadays, it is difficult to vouch for the daily rate precision but when it was on my wrist daily for the first month, we were getting +2 or 3 seconds/day based on a weekly check of +17 seconds variance from the Internet Clock...whatever that is

I've been wondering why most of my 'watch selfies' are taken in bars and pubs!?!  I guess that I'm most relaxed in those locations. 

in any case, the watch is still coming up roses......

Here is the regulatory PuristS 10:10 wrist shot.....I know....I know its 10:09 but I did not want to obscure the 'C' in Chopard.

Every time I look at it, a little frisson of excitement STILL courses through my being....
