Blast from the Past: Girard Perregaux Tribute To Enzo Ferrari.

 By: amanico : April 21st, 2019-01:31
A watch I was lucky to see once, only once, in the metal. A platinum model, which was also available in gold ( rose, and maybe white ).

The major interest of this watch is its " contradiction ". You could never guess, from the face, that the back would be so terrific. Modern and very cool ( it depends on everyone's taste, of course ) from the front, so classic and refined from the back.

Really surprising.

The only flaw I find on this watch? Its proportions: 43 mm is ok, but a height of... 17 mm is really very / too thick. Even if this watch is a perpetual calendar, chronograph and tourbillon.

Here are two pictures I could find on the net... There are not so many, either!

Unveiled in 2004.

What do you think of this Girard Perregaux?

Best,

Nicolas

That's why I prefer the WW TC Tourbillon you posted awhile ago.

Aaaah, now you are talking. My favorite WW TC, and most probably WT all brands included. [nt]

As just recently shared with you

not sure about the dial, but never saw one in real life. The back side though: olala!

Thx for sharing,
Dirk

Yes, the backside is to die for. The opposition of style is really something. In didn't like it, when I saw it, now I am thinking a bit differently. But the cas thickness is a real issue for me. [nt]

Back is beautiful but the rest of the watch, especially in the gold version, is ugly as hell [nt]

I like it a lot and proudly own a Pt version

On pics the dial looks much crazier/busier than in real life. It is a very cool chunky watch, yes, too tall at 17mm but I like it a lot anyway.
I know that there were 349 pieces made to equal the 349 examples of Ferrari Enzo car launched in 2002 and that they were made in Pt and rose gold. It would be interesting to find out how exactly these 349 were split between metals and thus how many Pt watches exist.
Semyon.
BTW, just for the info - it has 11 hands on the dial 😄

If you have photos to share, with pleasure. Lucky you! My guess is that 2 third were in RG, the rest in platinum. You should contact GP to ask them!

And also discreet and easy to wear as noone understands what it is.

That is a big part of its charm!
