Havana dial. It’s also the balance of the dial proportions to the case, lugs, silver hands and applied Breguet numeral. Box sapphire crystal and yes, no date.
It’s made by the KING of GP, Gino Macaluso. He had raced and won in his Abarth. Special relationship a warrior has with his machine.
They waited for the relationship to end with Ferrari before having this special commission made of 50 pieces.
Looks aside, I’ve been trying sooooooo hard to help folks understand the special pieces made in the NEO-vintage period by the Macaluso family.
Beyond just looks and dial colors, there are opportunities to collect forever pieces with rarity, provenance ON TOP of looks.
I would like to see all who collect GP start to have more DEPTH to their collecting.
By all means, ooh and ah about the current production pieces. But if one ignores the GP Neo-vintage period, their collection is incomplete IMHO.
That the case proportions are perfect. I love my standard 4946. This one is really extra special. My only wish, is that water resistance was upped to make it an all-rounder; my only gripe about a lot of this neo-vintage period.
🫶🏼 I can see why everyone loves the Havana dial color but …

I’m on a quest to encourage folks to look beyond JUST dial colors.
More depth and understanding or rarity, provenance, heritage, calibres, design elements and DNA. These things really make some GP NEO-vintage shine. For example, Baltic makes some nice looking watches. But even with this dial color, I would not buy it.
Do search for Havan dial 4946 and such and see what I’ve written about this off/catalog piece.
You have a nice GP neo vintage piece as well. Applied numerals/indices do make difference.
For me, this is one of the most beautiful GP watches ever produced. Everything is just right for me. I'll even forgive the car theme (I'm not a big fan of these kinds of collaborations). This chronograph is simply incredible. Everything just fits. An incredibly beautiful, enchanting, desirable watch.
Dear GP, please make something similar again. And focus on this and make fewer "swimming pool watches."
I too am not a fan of car colabs and such. This one is a little different. Commissioned by the Abarth group in japan and Gino Macaluso used to drive an abarth in his races. So it was more of a passion project.
I would have liked to see a Scorpion 🦂 (the abarth logo) at the back of the watch. This is the only “improvement” I would have suggested.
Ever get the feeling that the current GP management is trying to “prove” itself? I get that feeling. Like they know how great the designs under the macaluso period were and they want to show that they can do better.
All they would have to do is make a 150 of these 4946 with the same dial and layout… and I’m pretty sure they would sell out. Maybe MSRP USD 10,000? Imagine if they did it with a Skelton calibre 1800 to be show at the back.
