. . . to the bazaar in Manama to get fresh Gulf shrimp. The fish monger had hamour, a local fish similar to grouper. Dad, who spoke fluent Arabic, asked how fresh the hamour was.
Without saying a word, the fish monger took a hammer and hit a hamour on its head. It didn't stop flopping for at least half a minute.
