But also a very found member of my collection.
The 1655 has always fascinated me. A watch with a GMT function created solely for the cave Dweller. A person who spends so much time in a cave system that they have to have a watch specially for them so that with the large orange 24 hour hand with large amounts of lume on they can still see what time of day it is up above ground. Very useful.
Such an iconic vintage Rolex.
Mine is certainly going to get more wrist time especially with its new orange Nato strap.
Mine was purchased from the original owner who had never been anywhere near a cave.

I have, and love, a polar Explorer II but your 1655 is much more special!

Thanks for the great picture.

All the best,

Jon

Ps. I like the funky orange strap. I can definitely see that on the wrist of a cave explorer.

One of my favorite vintage models period, sold mine foolishly some years ago, and as many times someone posts it or mentions it I’m looking for the nearest wall to hit my head in it.

A gorgeous specimen you have there,!🥂

Thanks for the very kind thought, mon ami. You are right, I am very fond of this reference.

By the way, not a GMT, but a 24 hours watch, for the reason you mentioned.

And such a character!

The funny thing is that this uncommon Rolex or Un Rolex Rolex shares another point with another Un Rolex Rolex, the Milgauss 1019... It is very difficult to find one which sings to you.

I might have seen a good 100 before finding mine.

Best, mon ami.

Nicolas

+1

I'd worry about putting a gouge through that bezel as I've gotten so used to ceramic bezel and being careless with my rolexes. This one's special!

Stunning.

1655  was one of the first watches I wanted and got, and still is one of the fav .

Let's create a 1655 Fan Club. :)

We will have to accept friends from the "other" fan club

1655 goes with my love for 1665
(It's funny how the 1680 never snicked into my list, probably since its missing a 5 in the ref...)

I never owned a 1665. I am running after a DRSD for so many years, without having found mine... ;) As for the 1680, the Red I like it, but not as much as the 1655 and 1665.

My first Rolex. Bought new for £144 in preference to a GMTII and Daytona. Sold 10 years later for £75. Never really liked it.
