42mm x 14mm is less obviously high than 38mm x 13.5mm so perhaps one could say your lovely Breguet is more balanced. You see, if Kari with his Vingt 8 which comes in 37mm or 39mm can make the height of his watches 10.8mm and 11.5mm respectively and Rexhep's 38mm Chronometre Contemporain has a height of 9.5mm, I am psychologically bothered that the RW Smith is a whopping 13.5mm!
KV can wear a little big as you've no doubt found.
Here's a 39mm on me, fits well.

Yes I have tried many version of the Vingt 8
so not only would I have mine in 37mm but also in titanium as I prefer my watches light so that I can't feel them and they then become an extension of my wrist and part of me. Until a few years ago, Kari did not make his watches in titanium so when he showed me one in titanium, I smiled knowingly and he knew my thoughts exactly
