flyeng's original post offers an exclusive first look at the MB&F M.A.D.1S Purple Edition, a timepiece that continues to redefine accessible haute horlogerie. This article delves into the design evolution and technical refinements flyeng highlights, providing context for why this particular iteration resonates deeply within the collector community. His detailed photographs and observations serve as a vital resource for understanding the nuances of this highly anticipated release.

The MAD1 represents M.A.D. Editions' collaboration with fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, positioned within the M.A.D. 1 Time to Love series. This limited edition model carries the distinctive black dial configuration that defines this particular reference within the brand's contemporary lineup.
The 42mm steel case houses an automatic movement and features a smooth bezel configuration. The black dial is protected by sapphire crystal, while water resistance extends to 30 meters. The timepiece is completed with a black leather strap that complements the dial's dark aesthetic.
Produced from 2020 to present, the MAD1 appeals to collectors interested in contemporary independent watchmaking with fashion industry connections. The limited production status and collaborative nature position this reference for those seeking modern alternatives to traditional luxury timepieces, particularly collectors drawn to crossover pieces that bridge watchmaking and fashion design disciplines.
Looks nice. I don’t seem to be lucky on the lottery side, but it looks nice.
I prefer the thinner profile of the 1s to earlier editions. Your lume photos are very well done. Well-deserved success for everyone at MB&F, but especially Max. It's not easy to bring out an affordable product while still maintaining the exclusivity of the core lines. The MAD series will push the HM series to a higher level, as the MAD series is extremely compelling at a fraction of the price. Including Stephen McDonnell's complications, MB&F offers everything but the traditional watch.
If not … there will never be mad 2 for sure
Also the Swiss movement with kit shock absorber
I like it thinner, the rotor is spinning fast like the Miyota. Let's wait for the MAD2 next year
Will have to find / get one on the secondary mkt in the USA
