Elveez showcases the second installment of his impressive vintage Omega collection, emphasizing his preference for larger vintage pieces and the perceived ease of authenticating vintage Omegas compared to other brands. His post features iconic models like the 'Mickey Mouse/Bullhead,' 'Star Wars' Seamasters, and his favorite, the 'Ploprof' Seamaster 600.
The Omega Seamaster Ploprof 600, reference Seamaster600, is a specialized instrument within the Seamaster collection, designed for demanding underwater use. It is distinguished by its robust monobloc case construction and unique crown protection system, setting it apart from other Seamaster models as a purpose-built professional diver's watch. The design prioritizes functionality and durability for extreme conditions.
This specific reference features a substantial case, often constructed from materials chosen for their resilience in marine environments. The movement housed within is an automatic caliber, known for its reliability and precision, providing a practical power reserve suitable for its intended use. The crystal is designed for clarity and resistance to pressure, contributing to the watch's overall water resistance.
For collectors, the Seamaster Ploprof 600 holds interest due to its distinctive aesthetic and engineering. Variants, such as the unique 1971 example with an inverted case stamp and a bi-directional bezel, are particularly sought after. The use of specific materials, such as Uranus steel in some examples, further enhances its appeal to those interested in the technical evolution of professional dive watches.
both the Darth vader and the Anakin skywalker on top of a bullhead chrono. thats one hell of a collection. you obviously have a penchant for chrono's and the best of the bunch at that. brilliant Graham
Tasty combo of watches, to say the least. Rolex=BORING! My cousins in Switzerland were never big on Japanese watches, but it seems the Swiss have recognized them for what they are, the 'best in the East', whereas Omega (and anything Swiss) is honored as 'best in the West'. Go figure. I only have a Seiko right now, but soon I'm going for the new Seasmaster Aqua Terra with the 8500 movement in it, it's just a matter of size, 41.5mm or 38.5mm? Enjoy! =:^D Omega SMPro (sold), Seiko Premier alarm-chr
I was wondering where I should post some of my pics of my Seikos...perhaps just one or two here and the rest at HoMe...? I have always loved the caliber 6139 and 6138 automatic chronographs. Considering that they were manufactured back in the 70s, these movements appear to be highly durable and robust! However my interest in Seikos soon gravitated to its divers... Alright, more on HOrological MEandering.... Cheers, Elveez
I must admit that I strongly begin to have a certain weakness ( is it a prudent approach, enough? ) for the Ploprof, and yours is really impressive! That's not that the others are not interesting, but when you'll know me better, you will see that I'm a bit biased on Diving watches... Best, and feel free to post more pics of your beauties! Nicolas

Particularly that Bullhead. I only have Seiko and Citizen bullheads, though I have gone off Chronographs, that is a great watch. I'd love to see your Seiko collection. Mine are mostly dive watches, and nothing special, except for a mildly interesting Hi-beat.
