Keks shares his impressions from an exclusive Patek Philippe novelties event in East Hampton, New York, offering a collector's perspective on the latest releases. His candid wristshots and initial thoughts on models like the 5968A, 5740G, 5270P, and the showstopping 5204R provide valuable insights into their wearability and appeal, highlighting the unique experience of handling these pieces in a relaxed setting.

Last night I had the pleasure of spending the evening perusing the latest offerings by Patek in a beautiful outdoor setting in East Hampton, New York. Needless to say the entire evening was beautifully arranged and executed. The novelties from this year as well as many of the current production pieces were present and I must say it was a tremendous pleasure to have the opportunity to handle many of them in a casual outdoor setting. I apologize if photos of the evening are mostly of the pieces I most liked on my wrist, but the dinner and decoration of the space was superb as one would expect. Not to forget the band who played some real good music as well. Not disappointing in any way.

Now to quickly recap my favorites....

5968A. Looks better to me in the real than on photos with the orange configuration. I can see the appeal of this piece and it was probably the one most people expressed interest in judging by how many hands it passed through. Very comfortable to wear and I am sure I would get used to the size, but personally I still prefer the size of the 5164/5650 on my wrist. Having said that a piece for people who prefer to wear slightly larger pieces is a good option to have.

5740G. A gorgeous piece to wear. Slim like a 5711/5712 with extra heft but not as much as the 5711P. Perhaps it was the evening light but the metal came across a bit more gray than I had expected which I found to tone it down and add some sober elegance. A piece to be experienced. No doubt will this be very sought after. It has a lot of strong qualities, perhaps the only weakness being the price point....

5270P. A real joy on the wrist this one. The dial adds a bunch, I really did enjoy this one. Platinum case sits so well on the wrist I can see this being a watch for everyday use. Relaxed yet extremely elegant. Very classy and did not disappoint in any way.

5204R. Ok this one was the showstopper for me. What an incredible piece. Unlike the previous three this is far from an everyday casual piece. Not as relaxed and not as under the radar. But wow, the magic it transmits is special. The case wears higher but felt perfectly balanced and proportional on my wrist. Ouch. It hurts. That is how good it was....

These are merely my initial morning after impressions and thought I would share along with some snapshots. Hope many here have or will have the opportunity to handle these pieces and share thoughts as well.

A beautiful touch were the personalized travel cases, now I have one with my initials.... The meal was sumptuous but my photographing skills were not put to test as the dinner conversations made me forget to take pictures (sign of good company I suppose). Added some photos at the bottom taken as I arrived at the event

Best, K

About the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711

The Patek Philippe reference 5711/1A-011, part of the Complications collection, is distinguished by its white dial, offering a different aesthetic compared to other dial variations within the 5711 series. This particular configuration provides a clean and legible presentation, appealing to collectors who prefer a more understated yet refined look. It represents a specific iteration of a well-known Patek Philippe model, recognized for its integrated design.

The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case, housing the self-winding Caliber 26-330 SC movement. This movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The case is fitted with a sapphire crystal, contributing to its water resistance of 120 meters. The fixed bezel and integrated bracelet are characteristic elements of its construction.

This reference appeals to collectors interested in the evolution of Patek Philippe's offerings, particularly those seeking specific dial colors within established model lines. Its production run from 2019 to 2021 marks it as a relatively recent, yet now discontinued, variant. The watch's specifications align with Patek Philippe's standards for mechanical timepieces.

During my latest Patek event, I had so much fun with the other aficionados and friends that I only managed to try a few watches on and take some dirty pictures at the very end on the party. And by the way, no travel case here 😭
