TeutonicCarFan's thread from yesterday concerning the ref. 5024J gave me the idea to make a thread regrouping three very close Patek Philippe references, all powered by caliber 215: ref. 5009, 5010 & 5024.

I could have included the ref. 5124, but it's powered by a different shaped caliber (25.21 REC PS) and I've already included it in a thread concerning three Gondolos.

Enjoy!

About the Patek Philippe Patek Philippe 5024/1J Ref. 5024

The Patek Philippe reference 5024 is a rectangular wristwatch that was part of the brand's collection from 1997 to 2010. It is distinguished by its classic, understated design, offering a more traditional aesthetic compared to some of Patek Philippe's more elaborate complications. This reference is often grouped with other rectangular models from the period, sharing a similar design language that emphasizes clean lines and legibility. It represents a segment of Patek Philippe's production focused on refined dress watches.

The 5024 features a yellow gold case measuring 25mm in width, though its rectangular shape means its dimensions are often expressed as width by length. It is powered by the manual-winding Caliber 215, a reliable movement known for its slim profile and 44-hour power reserve. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, providing durability and scratch resistance. Its water resistance is rated at 25 meters, suitable for protection against splashes.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate Patek Philippe's heritage in producing elegant, time-only watches. It fits within the broader context of Patek Philippe's rectangular watch offerings, standing alongside references like the 5009 and 5010, all utilizing the same base caliber. The 5024 was available in yellow gold, with a silver dial, and typically paired with a leather strap, aligning with its dress watch character.

The 5010G-012 is great-looking indeed and the pictures made by Bulang & Sons are really gorgeous.

either with Arabic numerals or with 2 zones dial. The 5010G black dial 2 zones dial also looks very nice, but I'm less attracted to white gold. Di you have a preference?

Have to admit I did *not* love it. I've admired the arabic dial 5009 for a while but now that I've seen the 5010, I'm even more sure of it: better dial looks on the 5009, without the 6 cutting the subdial and, I think, more elegance with the longer rectangular case. Also it's taught me something further: lots of people complain about dials on which the subdials cut the numbers, but they're a lot better than dials in which the numbers cut the subdials!

I didn't pay enough attention to this important detail (the 6 cutting the subdial) and it's impossible from photos to feel how the 5009 looks more elegant. It's another proof that watches have to be seen in real life and tried on.
